Tyra Rickman notched career-highs in scoring and rebounds in win over Walla Walla
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Tyra Rickman posted career-highs with 12 points and nine rebounds, helping The College of Idaho defeat Walla Walla University, 70-37, in the opening game of the Kim Evanger Raney Classic.
The Lady Yotes (6-5) jumped out to an 11-2 start – getting a pair of buckets from Rickman, deuces from Nicole Bruce and Katelin Shannon, and a trey by Nicole Gall, and never trailed. After trailing by as many as 13, the Wolves (0-12) used a 6-0 run, including a pair of Nicke Parks baskets, to close within 25-19. However, two Gall three’s and a three-point play by Shannon ended any chance of an upset.
The C of I led 40-23 at the break and got defensive in the second half, allowing just one made field goal over the final 12 minutes of the game.
Gall had 21 points, five assists, and five steals in the win, with Shannon adding 12 points. The Lady Yotes forced 30 turnovers on the night, while holding a 17-1 edge in offensive rebounds.
Parke led WWU with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The C of I meets Whitman College tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
