Craig McGee signs to play for ABA's Seattle Mountaineers
SEATTLE, Wash. - College of Idaho alum and former Coyote All-American, Craig McGee, has signed a professional contract with the Seattle Mountaineers of the American Basketball Association.
The Boise native becomes the fifth former Coyote to play professionally this year – and the first to compete in the United States.
McGee (2005-10), who is the only player in C of I history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 100 blocked shots in a career, was a two-time NAIA All-American, a three-time All-Cascade Conference selection, and was a three-time Daktronics/NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
He has appeared in five games for the Mountaineers, averaging ten points and six rebounds per game, as the team has begun the season 4-1 in the ABA's Pacific Coast Conference North Division.
He joins Ty Shaw (1998-99, 2000-02) of the Chemnitz 99 in the German Pro-A League, Andy Harper (2002-04) of the Reading Rockets in the Engilsh Basketball League, Mike Homik (2000-02) of the Manawatu Jets in the New Zealand NBL, and Eric Hare (2002-04) of the Algodoreros de la Comarca in the Mexican LBNP as current former Coyotes in professional basketball.
The group joins a list of former Coyote professional basketball players, including NBA Hall of Famer, Elgin Baylor (1954-55).
