Tech's Gomez Named Red Lion Player of Week
PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech's Kyle Gomez, a 6-3 junior guard from Bly, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Gomez had a huge weekend for the 13th-ranked Hustlin’ Owls, posting a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) in a 63-59 victory over College of Idaho and then ringing up a game-high 28 points in an 89-78 win over No. 8 Eastern Oregon. Both games were played in Klamath Falls.
Oregon Tech improved to 12-2 overall and took over sole possession of first place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (4-0).
In the win over EOU, Gomez scored 15 of his 28 points in the first half, including hitting six of seven attempts from beyond the 3-point line. He also grabbed six rebounds, including two key boards in the final minute of play. Gomez also had five assists.
