Oregon Tech Slides By Warner Pacific
PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech overcame a slow start to defeat Warner Pacific 75-66 in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams at C.C. Perry Gym.
The host Knights (5-4 0-1 CCC) held OIT to just two field goals over the first ten minutes of the game and led the Owls (8-2, 1-0 CCC) 13-5 at the 9:55 mark. The visitors responded with a 10-2 run to close the gap, and WP held on for a 27-25 advantage at the break.
The teams battled back and forth as the second period began, and WP managed to hold a slim lead (43-41) with 13:14 to play. Oregon Tech went on a 10-0 surge at that point thanks to the duo of Joseph Foster and Kyle Gomez, as each dropped in 17 points in the half.
Warner Pacific closed within one point (54-55) on a Biniam Tadele jumper with 6:39 on the clock, but could not regain the lead.
Foster finished with 30 points on the night for OIT, while Gomez did all of his scoring in the second period (17 points).
Webster Moreland equaled his season high with 23 points for Warner Pacific, while Nick Schultens scored a season best 21.
Warner Pacific will host Southern Oregon tomorrow night, while Oregon Tech is at Concordia. Both games are at 5:30pm.
