Southern Oregon Hands Warner Pacific Lopsided Loss
PORTLAND, Ore. – With a hot shooting first half, Southern Oregon handed Warner Pacific a lopsided 77-46 defeat at C.C. Perry Gym tonight in Cascade Conference basketball action.
The visiting Raiders (8-2, 2-0 CCC) scored at a 61 percent clip in the first period, which included a 19-0 SOU run that turned a close game into a rout. Warner Pacific (5-5, 0-2 CCC) went over seven minutes without a field goal and saw a 10-16 score turn into a 25 point deficit over the span. The Raider lead reached as high as 30 points before settling for a 51-23 lead at the break.
The Knights continued to struggle offensively in the second period and finished the game 16 of 52 (30.8 percent) from the field. Southern Oregon shooters cooled off considerably after half time (33 percent), but the damage was done and the Raiders cruised to the victory and earned a sweep of the Portland trip.
Biniam Tadele led the Knights with 11 points, and was the only player in double figure scoring. Webster Moreland had nine points and five rebounds.
SOU was led by Jordan Highland with 17 points, while Kellen Hawley added 14 points and nine rebounds.
