KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – In what would be the last home game of the season, the Oregon Tech women’s basketball team picked up a much needed victory tonight over rival Southern Oregon by a 68-63 final in overtime.

Oregon Tech moves to 15-13 overall and 8-8 in conference play. Southern drops to 18-9 on the season and 7-9 in the CCC standings.

Tonight was also “Pink Out” at Oregon Tech, as the first 2,000 fans were given free t-shirts in an event to help support breast cancer awareness. It was a fitting tribute to former Oregon Tech president, and Hustlin’ Owl fan Martha Anne Dow, and her 10 family members that made the trip to Klamath Falls, on a night where both the men and women teams donned pink uniforms in the fight against breast cancer. Martha Anne Dow lost her battle to the disease in September of 2007.

On an emotional night for Oregon Tech fans and players, seniors Kellie Morey-Lewis, Kelsey New, Nicole Morgan and Lisa Busch were honored while making their final appearance at home in front of a packed Danny Miles Court.

Oregon Tech junior Brittany Cherry recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Morgan Hofman finished with 13 points, while senior Nicole Morgan netted 11 points to go with four rebounds. Senior guards Kellie Morey-Lewis, Kelsey New and Lisa Busch combined for 16 points in the win.

The victory for the Owls clinches a berth in the 2010 conference tournament, their eighth straight postseason appearance in as many years. The CCC quarterfinal round begins on Tuesday, February 23rd at a site to be determined.

Oregon Tech will round out conference play next week in Portland as the Owls take on Concordia University on Friday and Warner Pacific on Saturday
