PORTLAND, Ore. -- There's still a lot to play for this weekend as the CCC winds up regular season action in men's and women's basketball.
Five spots in the CCC postseason tournaments -- three on the women's side, two on the men's -- are still available for the taking. In addition, most teams are still very much fighting for seeding positions in the eight-team tournaments.
Video of all nine games this weekend can be seen at no charge via www.pennatlantic.com.
The CCC has two automatic bids to the NAIA Championships in both men's and women's basketball; the regular season champion in each gender secures one berth, with the postseason tournament champion (or the runner-up, if the regular season champion also wins the tournament title) claiming the other. The CCC also figures to be in the hunt for at-large bids to the national tourmaments, both of which feature 32-team fields.
In the women's race, 19th-ranked College of Idaho takes a two-game lead into the weekend. The Yotes are eyeing their second straight CCC regular season crown after sharing the title with Concordia last year. Three squads -- Eastern Oregon, Warner Pacific and Northwest -- are all tied for second place with 11-5 marks. Oregon Tech (8-8) is in fifth place. All of those teams have secured spots in the CCC tournament, which gets underway Tuesday at campus sites.
On the men's side, six berths to the CCC tournament have been locked up by Oregon Tech (13-3), Eastern Oregon (12-4), Warner Pacific (11-5), Evergreen (11-5), Northwest (9-7) and Northwest Christian (9-8).
Concordia (5-11), College of Idaho (5-11) and Southern Oregon (3-13) trail the leaders.
The men's CCC tournament gets underway Wednesday, Feb. 24.

CCC Tournament Tiebreakers
The following tiebreakers are used to determine berths and seeding for the CCC postseason basketball tournaments:
When two teams are tied:
(1) When two teams are tied in the standings, regular season head-to-head results are used as the tiebreaker.
(2) If the tied teams split their two-game season series, then compare each team’s overall record vs. opponents with a .500 or better record in league play.
(3) If procedure (2) does not resolve the tie, then compare each team’s record vs. the team occupying the lowest position in the final regular season standings and then continuing up through the standings until one team gains an advantage.
a. When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to their own tie-breaking procedures), rather than the performance against the individual tied teams.
(4) Sempert System (league games only).
(5) Coin flip
When three or more teams are tied:
(1) The combined record of conference games between the teams involved will be compiled. Ties will be broken and seeding assigned based on the winning percentage of the combined conference records. The higher winning percentage shall prevail.
(2) If the teams are still tied, then compare each team’s overall record vs. opponents with a .500 or better record in league play.
(3) If procedure (1 or 2) fails to break the tie, then each tied team’s record shall be compared to the team occupying the lowest position in the final regular season standings, continuing up through the standings until one team gains an advantage by having a higher winning percentage.
a. When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to their own tie-breaking procedures), rather than the performance against the individual tied teams.
b. If (1) or (2) or (3) reduces the field of tied teams by one or more, but three or more teams remain tied, then procedures (1) and (2) will be re-applied among the remaining tied teams.
c. If two teams remain tied, procedures for two-team tiebreaker will be utilized.
(4) Sempert system (league games only).
(5) Coin flip (two teams) or draw (three or more teams).
The Sempert System is as follows: 1. 4 points -- win on road over a .500 team or better. 2. 3 points -- win at home over a .500 team or better, and for win on road over a team below .500; 3. 2 points -- win at home over a team below .500; 4. 1 point -- losing to a .500 or better team anywhere; 5. 0 points -- losing to a team below .500; 6. A .500 or better record in conference play is considered a winning team
