Northwest Christian Cruises Into Fifth Place
BOX SCORE
EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men’s basketball team jumped out to a 14-5 lead and never looked back, leading by more than ten points for most of the game as they cruised to an 86-72 victory over rival Corban College on Friday night. The win secures at least a tie for fifth place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference for the Beacons, the highest CCC finish in school history.
The Beacons (14-16, 10-8 CCC) were led by junior Quentin Guidry, scoring 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting. The guard also had a game-high four steals for NCU. Three other players were in double-figures for the Beacons, led by 15 from Erik Quick-Warner. Cameron Marshall and Ben Voogd added eleven points apiece with Voogd adding seven assists and five rebounds. In his final home game as a Beacon, all-time leading scorer Andrew Miller finished with seven points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Corban (8-21, 3-15 CCC) had three in double-digits, led by 15 from Ben Potloff. Ian Logan added third points and three assists and Erik Cronrath finished with ten points and seven rebounds. The Warriors end their season sitting in last place in the conference.
The Beacons now sit and wait to find out their seeding and their opponent for the upcoming CCC tournament. If Northwest University wins on Saturday, they would jump into a fifth-place tie with the Beacons and they would claim the fifth-seed on tie-breaks. NCU won’t know their opponent until the dust settles on Saturday evening, as Eastern Oregon, Evergreen State, and Warner Pacific are separated by just one game in a battle for second, third, and fourth place.
