CALDWELL, Idaho - In a non-conference battle between the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the NAIA West Preseason Poll, The College of Idaho rode a 17-hit attack to defeat Oregon Tech, 15-4, this afternoon at Wolfe Field.

The Coyotes (7-2) picked up their sixth-straight victory and completed a weekend homestand with a perfect 5-0 record, knocking off an OIT team that was picked ahead of them in the preseason rankings.

It didn't take long for the Yotes to get to Owls (6-11) starter Jody Potter, as Jordan Lanman led off with a seeing-eye single up the middle, followed by a Jared Arehart base hit. Hot-hitting Diego Robles roped an RBI single up the middle, scoring Lanman, to make it 1-0. After a walk to Ray Santiago, Jesse Dodd lined a two-run single to left, with Santiago scoring on the play via an error. Jarel Lewis added an RBI single to make it 5-0.

The C of I would add another five-spot in the second to make it 10-0 - which was all starter Ben Rosen would need. The senior retired the first 11 men in order, allowing just two hits, to pick up his first win of the year.

Lewis had a big day for the Coyotes, going 3-for-4, including a long solo homer in the sixth inning, while Jye Lanphere went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Izaac Garsez, Robles, and Arehart each had two-hit games for the Yotes.

Colin Stock went 3-for-4 for OIT, while the Owls hit a pair of homers - a solo Cory Spires shot in the fifth, and a Zach Earle two-run long ball in the seventh.

The Coyotes return to action next weekend, hosting Whitworth University in a three-game series, beginning Saturday at Noon.
