For the second straight day, the Southern Oregon softball team split a pair of games during Day Two of the SOU Invitational at U.S. Cellular Park in Medford, Ore.

Southern Oregon (2-8) defeated Azusa Pacific 6-4 in the opener and then fell to 11th-ranked Concordia-Irvine 6-5 in the second game.

The Invitational wraps up Saturday as the Raiders play Concordia-Irvine at 11 a.m. and Holy Names at 1 p.m.

In the opener, Southern Oregon took advantage of four Azusa errors to come back from a 4-0 deficit after the first inning.

In the second, freshman Jessica Flores recorded the only hit of the inning as the Raiders scored three to cut the lead to 4-3.

Southern Oregon tied the game in the fourth as Flores again got the lone hit and then moved to second on an error, third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch.

In the seventh inning, junior Emily Matekel opened the inning with a single and reached third on a double by Kathryn Moy. An error and a sac fly gave the Raiders (who were the visitors in the game), the winning margin.

Flores also picked up the victory on the mound for the Raiders, pitching four-and-a-third scoreless innings.

In the second game, Concordia-Irvine led 6-3 after three inning and the Raiders made a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Justine Fulton and Sarah Wharton both singled and a walk by Matekel loaded the bases. Moy drove in a run on a fielder's choice and Rayna Strom-Okimoto added a run-scoring single to cut the lead to 6-5, but that's as close as the Raiders would get.

Meghan Laughlin, Bailey Price and Flores each had two hits for the Raiders.
