Raiders Sweep on Final Day of SOU Invite
The Southern Oregon softball team wrapped up the final day of the SOU Invitational at U.S. Cellular Park with a pair of extra inning victories over teams that appeared in the NAIA National Rankings.
The Raiders (4-8) defeated 11th-ranked Concordia-Irvine 4-3 in nine innings and Holy Names (like the Raiders receiving votes in the NAIA poll) 11-8 in nine innings.
In the opening game, the Raiders bounced back after giving up a single run in the top of the first by scoring two in the bottom of the inning off a Jessica Flores two-run double.
Starting pitcher Karri Johnson had her most productive start of the year, pitching six innings and striking out four and only allowing two hits before leaving with the game tied at 3-3.
Flores came in and pitched three shutout innings for the Raiders to get the victory.
In the bottom of the ninth, senior Danielle Stratton came off the bench for a game-winning pinch hit single to score pinch-runner Danielle Batson for the victory.

In the second game, after leading 3-0 in the second inning - the Raiders had to battle back in the seventh.
Playing as the visitors in the game, SOU scored four in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead - but the Hawks scored two in the bottom of the frame to tie it.
