CALDWELL, Idaho - Brittany Oslin went 5-for-7 with six RBI, helping Idaho State to a doubleheader sweep at The College of Idaho, winning 10-1 and 11-3 at Symms Field.
The NCAA Division I Bengals (3-4) used a pair of big first innings to jump to early leads, as ISU ended a four game losing streak.
In Game 1, ISU took full advantage of a two-out error by the Coyotes (2-4) in the opening frame, as Jessica Baca roped a two-run homer – then added a third run on a second C of I error to grab the 3-0 lead. They would add a Megan Miller two-run single in the second, with Oslin doubling in a run in the third to make it 6-0 – as the Bengals cruised to the win.
The late game saw the Bengals get a two-run singles from Erin Olander and Courtney Darby in the first to grab a 4-0 lead, but the Lady Yotes responded, as Jody Zillner clubbed a long solo homer in the bottom of the frame. Oslin pushed the lead to 7-1 with a two-run double in the third, then smashed a three-run homer in the fifth to make it 10-2. The C of I averted a mercy-rule shortened game, as Hannah Johnson hit a lead-off homer in the fifth.
Kandis Clesson picked up the win in both games for ISU, striking out 11 batters in nine combined innings of work. Desirae Hoffman, Taylor Marchione, Miller, and Baca all had three hits in the sweep for the Bengals.
Kalie Kurdy had three hits and Johnson added two hits in Game 2 for the Lady Yotes, while four different players notched singles in the opener for The C of I.
The Lady Yotes return to action a week from Saturday, traveling to Utah Valley.
