POCATELLO/BOISE, Idaho - Emily McCutchan recorded the ninth-best pentathlon in the NAIA this season in a record-setting performance, while the Lady Yotes distance medley relay hit the NAIA “A” standard, as The College of Idaho track team competed in a pair of venues tonight in the Gem State.
McCutchan became the first Lady Yote to break the 3,000-point barrier in the pentathlon at the Mountain State Games in Pocatello – breaking the school record in the 60-meter hurdles, the high jump, long jump, and shot put. The senior scored 3,078 points – one of just ten competitors in the NAIA to break 3,000-points, with the Top-16 qualifiers advancing to the Indoor National Championships.
She opened with a 9.81 in the 60-hurdles, breaking her own school record set last weekend at the Bronco Invitational. McCutchan followed with a record high jump of 4-10.5, and a record heave in the shot of 30-5. In the long jump, she leaped a record 15-11.75, followed by a fourth-place finish in the 800-meters (2:28.33).
True freshman Hailey Bull also competed for the Lady Yotes, scoring 2,012 in her multi-event debut.
At the United Heritage Invite in Nampa, the team of Colleen Smith, Ashley Miller, Maggie Miller, and Molli Lee-Painter met the NAIA “A” standard by over 15 seconds, running the seventh-fastest time in the NAIA (12:31.47). The Lady Yotes placed second, just behind Northwest Nazarene, but defeated NCAA Division I entry, Nevada.
A full contingent of runners will close out the indoor regular-season next weekend, competing at the Boise State Team Meet in Nampa.
