Cavs Set Pair of School Records at Vandal Indoor
COMPLETE RESULTS
MOSCOW. Idaho—In the first of two indoor meets held at Kibbie Indoor, the Concordia track and field teams posted two new school records while adding to their NAIA Championships qualifying tally at the Vandal Indoor held at the University of Idaho on Friday.
The Cavaliers will continue competition in the Gem State on Saturday by entering in the Runners Soul Open, also held inside the Kibbie Indoor Activity Center.
The women’s team added two NAIA provisional marks on Friday with Lauren Moran nearly generating an ‘A’ qualifier in the mile with a 5:13.09, missing the higher barrier (5:12.25) by less than a second. Capping the day’s events, the women’s 1,600-meter squad consisting of Stephanie Persaud, Mariana Toscano, Siera Leininger and Sabrina Hoffman toured the track in 4:02.05 to clip almost eight second off the school record and cross ahead of the provisional standard of 4:06.28 and just missing the ‘A’ qualifier of 4:01.90.
Marcus Cooper posted the team’s second school record of the meet by adding nearly an inch to his school best in the high jump. A week after clearing 6-8, Cooper soared 6-8 3/4 (2.05m) in a runner-up performance in Idaho.
Katherine Tripp, already ranked second in the NAIA in the women’s shot, added more than a foot to her season’s best with a 46-3 1/4 toss, finishing in third place at the meet.
Several Cavaliers posted near provisional marks as Persaud missed the 60-meter dash standard by .06 with an 8.01; Eunice Makinde missing the women’s 60-meter hurdles standard by .01 with a 9.41 and Chris Wilson missing the men’s 60 hurdles ‘B’ barrier by .02 with an 8.52 effort. Wilson finished .01 shy of the standard earlier in the year with a school-record 8.51 sprint.
