OIT Handles Northwest, Miles One 'W' from 900
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Behind a 20-point effort by Justin Parnell and 19 points from Joseph Foster, No. 3 ranked Oregon Tech ran past Northwest University by a 67-52 final tonight in Cascade Conference action at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech upped their season mark to 23-4 on the season and 12-3 in conference play. Northwest is now 14-11 on the season and 8-6 in CCC action.
A Joseph Foster 3-point field goal to start the game helped the Owls start where they left off last night- Rolling. It took just four more minutes for the Owls to lead by double figures, and an ensuing 18-6 run by the No. 3 ranked team pushed the Owl advantage to 33-11 with 7:16 to play in the first period. Oregon Tech would settle for a 42-22 halftime lead over visiting Northwest University.
In only six minutes into the second stanza a pesky NU squad got right back in the contest, when a 12-2 Eagle run ran the score to 44-34. NU would outscore the Owls 30-25 in the second period.
Oregon Tech quickly returned the favor and when the Owls scored the next seven points it was back to a comfortable 51-34 score with 11 minutes to play.
Not giving up, Northwest got to within 12 points with just over seven minutes to play, but the Owls were too much and pulled away for the 67-52 win.
Parnell added six rebounds, two assist and two steals to his game-high 20 points, while Foster also grabbed six boards to go with two assists and two steals. Myles Daley and Andy Siverly combined for 16 points and seven rebounds.
Tyson Christie led the Eagles with 11 points, while Stedman Richardson and Blake Solomon added eight points apiece. Greg Peters came away with a game-high nine rebounds.
Head coach Dan Miles will be going for career win 900 against his alma mater, Southern Oregon University, next Saturday, February 13th , while the Hustlin’ Owls will be going for 34-straight home victories as well.
