PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia University’s Alex Tiefenthaler, a 6-9 senior center from Tacoma, Wash., has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball.

It is the first honor of the season for Tiefenthaler.

In two games over the weekend, Tiefenthaler averaged 32.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and shot 65 percent from the field (including 6 of 7 from 3-point range) as the Cavaliers split their matchups with Corban and Northwest Christian.

Tiefenthaler had 42 points in a 108-92 win over Corban, falling one point shy of matching Concordia’s NAIA school record. He sank 16 of 22 field goal attempts (including all four of his attempts from beyond the arc) and pulled down 12 rebounds, all in just 31 minutes of action. One night later, in an 81-75 loss to Northwest Christian, Tiefenthaler had 23 points and six rebounds. On current CCC statistical charts, Tiefenthaler ranks No. 2 in scoring (19.2 ppg) and No. 7 in rebounding (7.6 rpg).

Honorable mention: Ben Potloff, Corban; Dan Stafford, Eastern Oregon; Craig McGee, College of Idaho; Justin Parnell, Oregon Tech; Ben Voogd, Northwest Christian; Kaylone Riley, Warner Pacific; Nathan Menefee, Evergreen.
