BANKS, Ore. – Senior Justin Ahrens (pictured) and junior Brent McKee tied for fourth place individually, leading the Northwest Christian University men’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Pacific Invitational, taking place at Quail Valley Golf Course.

Ahrens had his sixth sub-par round of the season in the first round on Saturday, shooting a 71, to temporarily lead the tournament. Ahrens added a 74 in the second round and finish with a 145, two shots behind medalist Max Bonk of host Pacific University. McKee went 73-72 for his 145, and was at par or better for the third time this season.

Josh Samples followed in 27th place (80-81=161) and Kyle Dube made his NCU debut, following closely with a 28th place finish (84-78=162). Chase Cleaver rounded out the Beacon contingent in 33rd (86-82=168).

The Beacons sat in a third-place tie after posting a team 308 in the first round, but improved to a 305 on Sunday to add separation and claim third all to themselves. Corban College was a distant fifth, finishing 19 strokes behind Northwest Christian. Host Pacific University won the event, with a team score of 584, just eight shots over par.

NCU will be back in action on March 22nd when they host the Northwest Christian University Invitational at Tokatee Golf Course. The Beacons took second-place in the CCC event last season.
