COMPLETE RESULTS
PRIMM, Nev.—Competing against seven of the top 16 programs in the NAIA, Concordia finished in third place at the Cal Baptist Spring Break Invitational held at Primm Valley Golf Course on Tuesday.
Concordia (310-325—635), ranked No. 8 in the NAIA poll, was tied for second place with No. 3 Cal Baptist (310-314—624) but fell off the pace late in the second round. British Columbia (302-309—611), ranked tenth in the NAIA, took the top spot by 13 strokes.
“The girls really fought out there,” CU head coach Ronn Grove said. “We were hitting the greens, but it so cold you could hardly putt. The weather definitely affected everyone out there and it made it difficult to make a run.”
Also in the field of teams were: No. 9 Lubbock Christian (321-316—637) in fourth place, No. 31 Cal State-San Marcos (315-325—640) in fifth place, No. 16 Southern Nazarene (324-331—655) in sixth place, South Carolina-Beaufort (323-337—660) in seventh place and No. 12 Wayland Baptist (342-331—673) in eighth place.
Sara Taylor (75-80—155) led the Cavaliers with a sixth-place result by finishing 11-over par. Holly Speer (79-80—159) finished four strokes back to tie for 11th and Lindsay Aho (80-80—160) fired back-to-back 80s to finish in a tie for 16th. Kim Lindow (76-85—161) and Madeline Jarrett (80-87—167) rounded out the Cavalier contingent.
Jocelyn Alford (74-74—148), competing for UBC, took medalist honors with consecutive 4-over 74s to defeat Wayland Baptist runner-up Charlotte Guilleux (76-74—150) by two strokes.
The Cavs return to action on March 15-16 when they compete at the Lewis-Clark State Invitational held at the Clarkston Golf Course in Clarkston, Wash.
