VANCOUVER, B.C. - The College of Idaho and the Unviersity of British Columbia split the opening two games of a weekend series, with the Coyotes taking the opener, 13-4, and the T-Birds grabbing the nightcap, 2-1, at Thunderbird Park.

The Coyotes (14-6, 4-2 NAIA West) pounded out 15 hits in the opener in support of starter Ben Rosen, recording their largest victory margin over No. 13 ranked UBC since the 2004 season - ending the Thunderbirds 13-game win streak. Taking advantage of a T-Bird error in the third, The C of I got RBI singles from Izaac Garsez, Diego Robles, and Jarel Lewis, jumping out to a 4-1 lead.

Robles would add to the lead with a two-run single in the sixth to make it 6-1, with the Yotes blowing the game wide open with a four-run ninth, keyed by a two-run Jared Arehart single.

Rosen picked up his fourth-straight win, allowing just one run in seven innings of work. Robles was 3-for-6 with four RBI, with Lewis and Ray Santiago each rapping three hits.

Game 2 was a pitching dual between the T-Birds (15-2, 5-1) Eric Brown and the Yotes, Jacob Coats - as both hurlers went the distance. Brown allowed just four hits and one earned run, fanning five in the winning effort, while Coats allowed just seven hits and struck out four.

UBC got on the board in the fourth on a one-out RBI single from Andrew Firth, after Nic Lendvoy led off the inning with a double. The Yotes would tie it in the fifth, as Lewis led off with a double and scored on a Santiago sacrifice fly. The T-Birds would score the eventual game-winner in the sixth on a two-out pinch-hit RBI single from Matt Cameron.

Lewis had two hits for the Yotes, while Mike Elias had two hits for the T-Birds.

The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow with a 11 a.m. (PDT) doubleheader.
