CALDWELL, Idaho - Ben Rosen tossed a complete game seven-hitter in the opener, then recorded the pinch-hit, walk-off RBI hit-by-pitch in the nightcap, as The College of Idaho swept the first two games of a weekend series with Bethany University, 4-0 and 1-0, at Wolfe Field.

The wins for the Coyotes (17-7, 7-3 NAIA West) extended their home win streak to 11 games, dating back to last season.

Game 1 saw the Yotes get on the board in the third, loading the bases on a Cody Spencer single, an error, and a bunt single by Izaac Garsez. Kyle Douglas knocked in Spencer with a sacrifice fly - which was the eventual winning run.

Douglas added an RBI single in the fifth to make it 2-0, with the Yotes tacking on a run via an error in the seventh, along with an eighth inning RBI single from Spencer to cap the scoring.

It was enough for Rosen, who did not walk a man, fanning eight, in the nine inning shutout. He was helped by his defense, as the Coyote outfield recorded a pair of outfield assists. Douglas, Spencer, and Ray Santiago each had two hits in the win.

Game 2 saw the Coyotes muster just one hit off Bruins' (4-14, 4-5) starter Steven Dreier - a two-out sixth inning single by Diego Robles. It marked the first time since April 9, 2006 that the squad had been one-hit (an 8-1 loss at British Columbia).

However, the Yotes manufactured a run in the seventh to win it, as Jarel Lewis led off with a walk and stole second. Santiago would walk, and after a failed sacrifice attempt, Spencer would walk. Enter Rosen, who took the first pitch he saw square in the back to end the game.

Jacob Coats and Mitch Dame combined on a five-hitter, with Dame fanning four men in three-plus innings of work to get the win. Dreier was the tough-luck loser, walking seven and striking out eight for Bethany.

The two teams will close out the series with a doubleheader tomorrow, with game time pushed back to Noon (originally scheduled for 11 a.m.)
