Oregon Tech Sweeps Eastern Oregon
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Lady Owls sweep twin bill from Mountaineers winning 7-3 and 13-2. Oregon Tech pounded out 20 hits and received solid pitching to sweep. The Lady Owls improve 15-11 and 3-1 in CCC play with Eastern falling to 7-3 and 1-3 in CCC play.
In game 1, the teams battled back and forth until the bottom of the 6th when Oregon Tech broke open a 4-3 game with 3 runs then got solid relief pitching to hold on for the 7-3 win.
Becca Anderson pitched 5 solid innings giving up 7 hits and 2 earned runs to pick up the win and improve her season mark to 5-4. Amber Knight pitched the final 3 frames allowing only 1 hit picking up her first save of the year.
In game 2, Oregon Tech scored 10 runs in bottom of the first inning then received solid pitching from Taylor Schmidt to win 13-2 in mercy-rule shortened nightcap.
The one-two punch of sophomore Ashleigh Larson and freshman Jess Plummer once again led the Tech hitting barrage as Larson had 5 hits and 5 RBI on the day, increasing her season batting average to .388 with Plummer smacking 4 hits including her 5th homerun of the season adding 6 RBI and bolstering her season average to .395.
Leadoff hitter Andrea Wheatley performed her job almost to perfection reaching base 6 times, scoring 5 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.
Eastern Oregon was led in hitting by Kassi Reisbeck with 4 hits on the day with Jennifer McDonnell was credited with both losses on the mound for the Mountaineers dropping her season record to 6-4.
Oregon Tech will hit the road playing its next 16 games away from Klamath Falls starting with a double-header at William Jessup University in Rocklin, California on Monday, March 22nd. The Lady Owls will next play at home on April 13th when they host Simpson University.
