Converse Shines During SOU Multis' Opener
ASHLAND, ORE. -- Southern Oregon senior Rosie Converse jumped out to an early lead and held onto it during the first day of the SOU Spring Break Multis at Raider Stadium today.
Converse finished the opening day of the heptathlon with 2,353 points, besting Concordia's Dominique Jacoy (2,306) and Southwestern Oregon Community College's Kelsea Johnson (2,072) and Maria Ciccarelli (1,656).
In the men's decathlon, College of the Siskiyous Stephen Dickinson leads with 3,373 points, while SOU's Alex Waroff is just off the pace with 3,282 points and SWOCC's Justin Smith is third with 2,879 points.
Converse's day was highlighted by a victory in the high jump with a season-best jump of 5-00.25. Converse also finished second in the shot put (31-09.50) and 100 hurdles (16.90) and third in the 200 (28.65).
Waroff claimed a pair of victories in the decathlon. The senior won the 400 (52.10) and the long jump (21-03.25). He also finished second in the 100 hurdles (11.77) and the high jump (5-10.75).
