ASHLAND, ORE. -- Southern Oregon senior Alex Waroff had a strong second day and claimed the decathlon title at the SOU Spring Break Multi-event Championships today at Raider Stadium.

Waroff finished with a career-best 6,390 points to edge College of the Siskiyous Stephen Dickinson's 6233 points. Justin Smith of Southwestern Oregon finished third with 5,202 points.

In the heptathlon, Concordia's Dominique Jacoy broke the 4,000-point plateau with a score of 4,015. SOU's Rosie Converse was second with 3,732 points and Southwestern Oregon's Kelsea Johnson (3,622) and Maria Ciccarelli (2,542) finished third and fourth.

After finishing third in the 110 hurdles to start the day with a time of 16.80, Waroff made huge strides by winning the discus (133-00), pole vault (12-11.75) and javelin (157-00).

Waroff finished off his day by finishing second in the 1,500 with a personal-best time of 4:49.10.

Converse's final day in the heptathlon was highlighted by a second place finish in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:35.35. The senior also finished third in the long jump (13-07.75) and third in the javelin (86-03).
