CCC Student-Athletes Vie for NAIA Awards
PORTLAND, Ore. – Student-athletes from Concordia University, Eastern Oregon University, Corban College and College of Idaho are Cascade Collegiate Conference nominees for annual NAIA awards based on character, leadership, academics and athletics.
The NAIA will announce winners later this spring.
The nominees representing the CCC:
Dr. LeRoy Walker Award – Dylan Smith of Concordia, a member of the Cavaliers’ baseball team, is the CCC’s nominee for this annual award, which is based on academic and athletic achievement, campus and community leadership, and adherence to the core values of the NAIA’s Champions of Character program.
Emil S. Liston Award (female) – Eastern Oregon’s Shaylee Nielsen is the CCC’s female representative for this award, which is presented annually to a junior women’s basketball player who has shown athletic and scholastic achievement (overall GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale).
Emil S. Liston Award (male) – Ian Logan of Corban College is the CCC’s male representative for this award, which is presented annually to a junior men’s basketball player who has shown athletic and scholastic achievement (overall GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale).
A.O. Duer Award (female) – Colleen Smith of the College of Idaho, a member of the Yotes’ soccer and track and field teams, is the CCC’s nominee for this award, which is presented annually to a junior student-athlete in any sport who has excelled academically as well as athletically.
