STANFORD, Calif.—Running in separate heats, Concordia’s Jessy Brown and Cordero Cisneros both registered NAIA qualifying performances in the 800-meter run to highlight Cavalier competition at the Stanford Imitational held at Cobb Track and Angell Field on Saturday.

Brown toured the oval with a time of 1:53.24 to finish in 29th place to earn an automatic entry into the event at the NAIA Outdoor Championships while Cisneros crossed in 1:54.19 to nab a provisional mark with the ‘A’ standard set at 1:53.50.

Competing in his first outdoor meet of the season, Brown holds the school record in the 800 with a 1:51.88 set at the2009 NAIA Championships while Cisneros holds a personal best of 1:53.04 and had ran a 1:54.71 last week at the University of Oregon.

The women’s 1,600-meter relay team nearly set a school record with a time of 3:55.30, just off the 3:55.19 CU best set in 2007, to capture automatic status with more than three seconds to spare.

Also earning an ‘A’ mark for the Cavalier women was Amanda Federici, who unleashed a 156-0 in the hammer to finish in fourth place in the collegiate section of the event.

In the pole vault, Jordan trump matched his school record with a successful leap at 15-7 while Catherine Sims flirted with a pair of school records with a 25.64 in the 200 as well as being a member of the 1,600 relay. Sims crossed .22 shy of the school best of 25.43 set by Brittany Grizzard in 2006.

Across town at the Chabot Relays, Breezy Wentz overtook the provisional barrier in the discus with a 136-1, upping her mark of 131-9 she posted at Stanford to meet the ‘B’ standard.
