San Francisco State Invitational Results            Stanford Invitational Results

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Eastern Oregon University track and field team ran against NCAA Div. 1 competition Friday and Saturday and had great results.

With the majority of the team competed at San Francisco State Friday, the Mountaineers had highlights throughout the day.

In the 10,000 meter run, Karlee Coffey finished with the second fastest time in school history and a NAIA Auto-Qualifying time. Her 37:28.78 surpasses the NAIA auto by 1 min and 47 seconds in her first race at the distance. Coffey placed sixth overall behind mainly NCAA Div. 1 runners.

Terry Johnsen narrowly missed the NAIA Auto mark in the men's 10k run. His 31:54.90 was just off the auto time of 31:50.

Sarah Hanchett also hit a provisional mark, but it came in her 3,000-meter steeplechase debut. Her 11:46.55 is the second fastest in EOU history.

Other quality performances at the meet were Maddison Stapleton with a pair of personal records in the 100 (13.29) and 200 (27.44). Carlos Quintana notched a huge PR in the 1,500. His time of 4:05.73 beat his old PR by 11 seconds. He later had a fine run in the 800 with a time of 1:58.44. Both marks are conference qualifiers.

Talissa Baldovino ran a very well raced 800, 2:20.06, to drop five seconds off her PR and finish third in her heat. Chris Wilson won his heat in the 400 with a new PR of 52.77. Dustin Cloud finished the 400 with a time of 51.73.

Also competing on Friday were Kimmy Moore and Andrew Wise at the Stanford Invite. Moore ran the 400 hurdles in 65.37 to finish second in her heat and just miss a NAIA Provisional mark. Wise finished fifth in his heat of the 400 with a solid and fast closing, 50.82.

Andy Munsey set a new PR and won the hammer throw at Chabot College. Munsey's 175'5" toss was solid improvement over his previous best of 173'9" set at the EOU Blue and Gold meet last week.

Saturday's action took place at Chabot JC and Stanford. Stapleton capped off a quality weekend with a win at Chabot in the pole vault (10'0") and a solid anchor on the 4x100 relay (49.90). She was joined once again by Moore, Melissa Abesa and Orie Gamez.

Other quality performances at Chabot included Ashlee Michelson in the shot (39'9") and Discus (123'6"). Chris Wilson notched a come from behind win in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.81 seconds. The men's 4x400 of Wise (50.3), Cloud (50.5), Kevin Sthen (51.7) and Asa Miller (52.8) ran a solid 3:25.61.

Over at Stanford, Chris Dilley had a busy afternoon finishing fifth (159'9") in the Invitational Discus and sixth in the Invitational hammer throw with a seasons best 198'3" throw. Dilley was the only non current or former NCAA Div 1 thrower in the final of both events.

Andrew Perri and Ryan Booth both hit NAIA Auto marks to finish third in their respective heats. Perri's 1:52.33 is the second fastest in school history and a new PR by 3 tenths of a second. Booth's 1:52.41 is an outdoor PR and ranks him third in school history. The school record is 1:51.94 from 1979 by Greg Castella.

Alma Garcilazo was the other competitor for EOU at Stanford on Saturday. Garcilazo also hit an NAIA Auto mark in the 800. Her 2:13.59 is a new EOU record, surpassing the EOU previous best of 2:14.54 by Colleen Quam in 1990. She was fourth in her heat of 12 runners.
