“We had great performances all around, this weekend,” stated Eagle Head Coach, Mark Mandi.  “Shayna Prause, in her season debut in the javelin, threw 38.77m to surpass the NAIA Outdoor Championships "B" standard. This is her third consecutive year of qualifying for nationals in the javelin, which is a pretty remarkable feat and I am excited to see what she can do as she continues to improve. Jason Waltman was the workhorse of the team competing in 7 events total and shattering the school record in the discus with a throw of 39.11m. He was running all over Civic Field Stadium to compete in the next event and I was getting tired just keeping up with how he was doing.” Mandi continued, “Julia Johnson ran the first 3,000m steeplechase of her young career. She looked strong throughout the race and bested the conference qualifying time by running 12:18. Derek Woolsey had a great run in the 800 meters, posting the 3rd fastest time in school history with his 1:56.70. He is a tough runner and continues to impress me with his performances. There were a lot of other good, solid performances out there yesterday. So, we're going to be taking this next weekend off and will return to Western Washington on April 23. Hopefully, we'll be able to get good recovery and excellent training to prepare us for the championship portion of the season,” Coach Mandi concluded.
