PORTLAND, Ore. -- The following Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes have been recognized as Players of the Week in their respective sports for the period of April 5-11:

BASEBALL
Player – College of Idaho’s Gavin Gamboa, a 6-2 junior from Boise, Idaho, batted .500 with seven RBI’s in helping the Yotes to a 3-1 record. Gamboa blasted two home runs in one inning in Saturday’s game 2 victory over Corban. He finished with a career-high five RBI’s in the game as he returned to the lineup after missing nearly a month due to an injury. Honorable mention: Trevor Winsor, Corban; Trent Smith, Oregon Tech; Curt Cosby, Concordia.

Pitcher – Corban College’s Jacob Kopra earned the honor for the third time this season. The 6-4 freshman from Gresham, Ore., registered his first career shutout against the NAIA’s No. 23 team, College of Idaho, as he allowed five hits and struck out five in a 1-0 series-opening victory. Honorable mention: Mitchell Dame, College of Idaho; Dylan Bedortha, Oregon Tech; Tyson Kisselburg, Concordia.

SOFTBALL
Player –Oregon Tech’s Jess Plummer, a 5-7 freshman from Eugene, Ore., helped the Owls to a 4-2 week with 10 hits, including four doubles and three RBI’s, as OIT maintained a hold on second place in the CCC. Plummer batted .455. Honorable mention: Rachel Kazmierski, Corban; Nikki Shumway, College of Idaho; Ali Paz, Concordia.

Pitcher – College of Idaho’s Jody Zillner, a 5-11 senior from Emmett, Idaho, went 2-0 and recorded her 11th double-digit strikeout game of her career. Zillner allowed just two earned runs in 16 innings of work. She struck out 11 in a 7-2 win over Southern Oregon and had 20 K’s all told. Honorable mention: Makenzie Marchbanks, Corban; Taylor Schmidt, Oregon Tech; Karri Johnson, Southern Oregon; Danielle Pulfrey, Concordia.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Track – Concordia’s Eric Burck, a senior from Ephrata, Wash., posted an NAIA automatic qualifying time in the 1500 meters with a near school-record run of 3:54.90. Burck’s time, just .50 off the CU record, ranks No. 13 on the NAIA outdoor performance list. Honorable mention: Kody Coxen, Eastern Oregon; Levi Roudebush, Southern Oregon.

Field – Warner Pacific’s Webster Moreland, a sophomore from Fairfield, Calif., was cited for the second time this season. Webster set a school record and met the NAIA automatic qualifying standard with a 47-3 mark in the triple jump at the Pacific Northwest Relays. Honorable mention: Mitch Wheelhouse, Eastern Oregon; Seth Lindquist, Southern Oregon; Eric Whalen, Concordia.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Track – College of Idaho’s Maggie Miller, a senior from Anchorage, Alaska, hit the NAIA automatic qualifying standard in the 1500 with a CCC- best time of 4:42.06 at the John Knight Twilight Invitational. Miller finished second overall. Honorable mention: Karlee Coffey, Eastern Oregon; Chenin Young, Southern Oregon; Catherine Sims, Concordia.

Field – Oregon Tech’s Sarah Schelb, a senior from Chiloquin, Ore., won the javelin with a throw of 149-10 at the Chico State Invitational. Honorable mention: Holly Haga, Southern Oregon; Gabrielle Dixson, Concordia,

GOLF
Male – College of Idaho’s Tyler Thurston, a sophomore from Eagle, Idaho, earned medalist honors in helping the Coyotes to a two-stroke victory over Northwest Nazarene at Purple Sage Golf Club. Thurston fired a one-over 72.
