BOX SCORE -- GAME 1 : GAME 2

TACOMA, Wash.—Approaching save situations in both contests, Pacific Lutheran scored insurance runs in their final at bats to close out Concordia 8-3 and 7-2 in non-conference baseball action at PLU Field on Tuesday.

With the results, PLU improved to 24-6 on the season while Concordia fell to 7-23 overall. The Cavaliers will take the field tomorrow at Lewis & Clark College for another non-league affair. Opening pitch for the single game is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Houston Sports Complex.

Pacific Lutheran opened the scoring in the first game with an unearned run in the second, but Concordia tied it in the top of the third on Sean Myrom's RBI single. Regaining the lead, the Lutes scored four times in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead.

The game remained 5-1 until the top of the eighth when Concordia added a run on a wild pitch to score Tommy Whalen, but the Lutes came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Those three runs looked big when the Cavaliers put together a rally in the ninth inning, taking advantage of a hit and three walks to score a run and load the bases, but the comeback would be silenced by reliever Blaine Myers who retired the side without another run scoring to end the game.

Nathan Eisenhauer allowed one run on five hits in seven innings of work to earn the win for PLU while Zac Manor was charged with the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) in three innings. Steven Taft followed with three scoreless innings for the Cavs, giving up just one walk and one hit in the stretch.

In the nightcap, Max Beatty threw a complete game in the seven-inning contest, allowing two runs, one earned on four hits. The only runs allowed came in the second on a Chris Jaime RBI double following an error, and on a run-scoring groundout. Jaime finished the game 2-for-2 with two doubles, a run scored and a RBI.

The Lutes already led 3-0 at that point, opening the scoring in the bottom of the first on a two-run double by Spencer Downs and a wild pitch. PLU added a run in the fourth when Ryan Boyles hit a single to drive in Corey Moore, who reached on a double, and it added three more in the sixth inning.

PLU outhit Concordia 7-4 in the second game after a 9-7 advantage in the opener.
