ASHLAND, ORE. -- The Southern Oregon and Croban softball teams combined for 48 hits during a Cascade Conference doubleheader split today at University Field. Southern Oregon won the opener 8-6, while Corban won the nightcap 9-7.

Southern Oregon improved to 13-19 overall and 9-9 in conference action and will host sixth-ranked Concordia next Friday. Corban improved to 16-21 overall and 8-8 in conference.

In the opener, the Warriors scored three runs on three hits in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.

The Raiders came back in the fifth, thanks to a three-run triple by Meghan Laughlin. Laughlin then scored on a ground out to give the Raiders a 6-5 lead.

Corban came back to tie the game in the sixth, scoring on an error and in the bottom of the frame the Raiders put the game away.

A single by Danielle Stratton and an error cleared the way for a two-run double by Justine Fulton and the Warriors went down in order in the seventh to end the game.

Kathryn Moy led the Raider offense in the opener with three hits. Fulton and Laughlin both two hits and three RBI.

Jessie Jones had three hits for Corban.

In the nightcap, Corban took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first off back-to-back home runs by Stephanie Nippert and Tamara Feb.

The Raiders got five in the bottom of the frame off a solo home run by Fulton, an RBI single by Irene Barrantes, a ground out and a two-run double by Karla Alvarez.

The Warriors took control of the game in the third with three runs on three hits and then a single run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth inning.

Nippert and Rachel Kazmierski both had three hits for the Warriors.

Fulton, Jessica Flores, Bailey Price and Barrantes all had two hits for the Raiders.
