Peggy Anderson Field at 11 a.m. Friday.
LA GRANDE, Ore. – It’s beginning to look a lot like … April. The Eastern Oregon University softball team’s meeting with Corban College today has been moved to Saturday.
The Mountaineers and Warriors had a scheduled first pitch for 2 p.m. Friday, but with snow falling since this morning, combined with strong wind, a postponement was inevitable.
At noon it was 34 degrees and wind was 31 miles per hour at Peggy Anderson Field, with gusts of 42 miles per hour. The Grande Ronde Valley remains under a Wind Advisory until 8 p.m. tonight.
The doubleheader has been moved to Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. in La Grande. The College of Idaho and Northwest Christian University suspended their play Friday in the fifth inning and will resume Game 1 Saturday.
Interstate 84 just east of La Grande was closed to east and west bound travelers due to icy conditions midday Friday and prevented Corban College from traveling to Caldwell, Idaho. So, the reschedule worked well for the Warriors who stayed in La Grande.
Rescheduled meetings between Eastern Oregon and Northwest Christian along with Corban and College of Idaho will be made in the near future. Both of those match-ups were scheduled for Saturday.
