Tyler Thurston shot a 72 to lead the Yotes over NNU
CALDWELL, Idaho - For the second time this season, Tyler Thurston earned medalist honors for The College of Idaho men's golf team, but unlike the fall match-up with Northwest Nazarene, his Coyote teammates stepped up, defeating the rival Crusaders 315-317, in a head-to-head match-up at Purple Sage Golf Course.
Thurston shot a season-best one-over 72, winning the event by four strokes over NNU's Zach Grunig. Jeff Davies also helped the Coyote charge, with a seven-over 78 - as the Yotes defeated the Crusaders for the third time in four meetings.
Casey Dyck (+10, 81) and Jacob Reyes (+13, 84) rounded out the Coyote scorers, while Jeff McDonald (+6, 77), Leon Vasquez (+10, 81), and Tanner Roggenkamp (+13, 84) rounded out the Crusader scorers.
Both teams will be among the field of seven at The College of Idaho Invitational, set for next Monday and Tuesday at River Bend Golf Course in Wilder.
