CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho head men’s basketball coach Rod Jensen has announced the signing of his first two recruits to NAIA Letter of Intents 2010-11 season.

Heading to Caldwell to play for the Coyotes are big men Krispin Banks, a transfer from Salt Lake Community College and Steve Anderson, a transfer from Idaho State University.

Banks, a 6-8, 260-pound center from Garland, Texas, helped SLCC to the 2009 NJCAA National Championship and last season averaged four points and three rebounds.

“The College of Idaho has had great success in the past recruiting from top notch programs,” said Jensen. “Krispin Banks has been a part of a national championship team and has played at a high level of competition. He is a gifted student-athlete that will fill the void of losing two-time All-American, Craig McGee.”

Anderson, a 6-7 forward, was the 2007 Idaho Press Tribune Athlete of the Year while at Vallivue High in Caldwell – starring in both basketball and track and field. He saw action in nine games as a freshman for Joe O’Brien at Idaho State – but has not played organized basketball for two seasons. In high school, Anderson was a two-time All-State selection in basketball and won a pair of 400-meter state championships in track.

“Steve Anderson is a great all-around athlete, having spent the last year training for the decathlon,” said Jensen. “Once he gets his basketball legs under him, he will be a great addition to the Coyote front-line.”

The Coyotes return three starters and nine lettermen from the 2009-10 team that finished the season with a 9-17 record.
