Concordia Climbs to No. 6 in NAIA Women’s Golf Poll
NAIA Poll - April 9
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Receiving the exact number of votes in the previous poll, the Concordia women’s golf team moved up one position for a No. 6 ranking in the NAIA Women’s Golf Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Friday.
The Cavaliers received 332 votes to match its tally from the March 26 edition and nearly caught their season-best collection of 343 votes garnered in the preseason poll from December 4 when the team was ranked fifth in the NAIA.
Concordia returns to the links on April 12-13 when it travels to a Cascade Collegiate Conference event hosted by The College of Idaho at River Bend Golf Course in Wilder, Idaho.
For the ninth consecutive poll, Oklahoma City has landed in the No. 1 spot of the Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Stars were awarded seven first-place votes for 441 points. Second-ranked Embry-Riddle (Fla.) earned six first-place votes and third-ranked British Columbia recorded a pair of first-place nods. California Baptist and Savannah College of Art & Design (Ga.) check in at fourth and fifth, respectively, to round out the top-five teams.
The sharing of first-place votes between Oklahoma City, Embry-Riddle and British Columbia marks the second time this season that a trio of teams have split first-place nods. Embry-Riddle has occupied the No. 2 spot for three-straight weeks, but has narrowed the point spread to just three points with 395 points.
There were no new additions to the poll, but 16 teams adjusted rank, led by California State-San Marcos’ eight-spot leap from No. 18 to 10. Wayland Baptist dropped down five spots to No. 16.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, independents and unaffiliated groups. The next poll will be announced on April 23.
