The following Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes have been recognized as Players of the Week in their respective sports for the period May 3-9:

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Track – Concordia’s Catherine Sims, a junior from Portland, Ore., set a school record in the 400 and as a member of the 400 relay team at the Mt. Hood Twilight. Sims’ 56.35 in the open 400 clipped .11 off her own school mark while moving her into the No. 6 position on the NAIA’s outdoor performance list. In addition, Sims was a member of two relays that posted NAIA automatic qualifying times. Honorable mention: Lindsey Wagner, Northwest.

Field – Concordia’s Gabriella Dixson, a freshman from Battle Ground, Wash., improved her season-best mark in the discus by almost 10 feet with an effort of 152-0 at the Mt. Hood Twilight. Dixson moved up to No. 3 on the NAIA outdoor performance list for 2010. In addition to her win in the discus, she took second place in both the shot and hammer.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Track – Concordia’s Taylor Schmidt, a freshman from Battle Ground, Wash., registered a second-place finish in the first decathlon event of his college career. Schmidt totaled 5,825 points at the GFUltimate Decathlon, the fifth-best tally in the CCC this season. In the process, he earned an NAIA provisional qualifying mark in the 110 hurdles (15.24). Honorable mention: Seth Bridges, Northwest.

Field – Concordia’s Eric Whalen, a sophomore from Tualatin, Ore., shattered his own school record in the shot with a 55-0 winning toss at the Mt. Hood Twilight. The mark was nearly a two-foot improvement over his previous best and moves him into a tie for fourth on the NAIA outdoor performance list for 2010. Whalen also set a personal record in the discus (147-1) and approached his season best of 197-9 with a mark of 192-5 in the javelin.
