GRESHAM, Ore. - Another day of great weather was the setting for the second day of competition at the 2010 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships at Earl Klapstein Stadium on the campus of Mt. Hood Community College.

Five meet records fell toady, all on the women’s side of competition and all by Concordia University athletes.

Concordia’s Loren Moran broke her own record set last year in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:45.06. Second place Molli Lee-Painter of College of Idaho (11:08.65) and third place Kristine Smith of College of Idaho (11:13.12) were also faster than the old record.

Concordia’s 4 x 100 relay team smashed the meet record of 48.13 by finishing in 47.20. Eastern Oregon’s foursome was next in 49.04.

Cavalier Alice Taylor is the new record holder in the 1500 meter run, as her 4:32.74 finish bested the old record by almost 2 seconds. Her teammate Eunice Makinde set a meet record in the 100 meter hurdles, breaking the mark set in 1997 with a time of 14.28 seconds.

The final meet record was set by CU’s Catherine Sims, who won the 400 meter dash in 56.30 seconds and scoring 10 more points for the Cavaliers.

The women’s heptathlon concluded competition today, with College of Idaho’s Emily McCutchan moving into first place with a strong finish in the 800 meter run. Her 4474 total points was just better than CU’s Dominique Jocoy with 4364 points.

On the men’s side, Concordia continued to score well, particularly in sweeping the top three spots in the 1500 meter run. Cordero Cisneros was the top finisher in 3:52.95, followed by teammates Eric Burck (3:53.23) and Jessy Brown (3:43.45).

Eastern Oregon received a strong performance from Chris Dilley, who won the hammer throw event with a toss of 191-10.

David Anderson gave Corban College its first individual champion by winning the 400 meters in 49.16 seconds.

In the men’s decathlon, Taylor Schmidt ended the day as champion, scoring 6306 total points, with Asa Miller coming home in second with 6011 points.

Women’s Team Scores: Concordia – 161, Eastern Oregon – 80, College of Idaho – 66, Southern Oregon – 47, Oregon Tech – 30, Corban – 27, Warner Pacific – 15, Northwest – 12, Northwest Christian -11.

Men’s Team Scores: Concordia - 127, Southern Oregon – 87.50, Eastern Oregon – 71, Warner Pacific - 35.5, Oregon Tech – 35, College of Idaho – 28, Corban – 17, Evergreen State – 13, Northwest – 11
