FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Meet and track records by both College of Idaho 4x800-meter relay teams highlighted an outstanding performance by the Coyotes at today's Pacific Twilight.
The women's relay of Maggie Miller, Stephanie Sparks, Colleen Smith, and Ashley Miller, ran the fifth-fastest time in the NAIA this season, winning the race with a time of 9:22.31, easily notching the NAIA "A" standard. The men's team of Dominic Bolin, Nick Hampton, Garrett Traughber, and Zeke Wilson broke the school record with their time of 7:51.60 - just one-tenth of a second off the NAIA "B" mark.
Stephanie Helm hit the NAIA "A" standard in a third event, meeting the mark with a second-place finish in the 1,500-meters (4:42.26), while Andrew Hugill hit the NAIA "B" mark with his fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meters (15:02.82).
Three other school records fell by the wayside, as Emily McCutchan smashed her own record in the 100-hurdles (15.43), recording the fourth-fastest time in the Cascade Conference in 2010, while breaking the record in the javelin (92-7). Also breaking a school mark was freshman Hailey Bull, who recorded the third-best long jump in the CCC with her leap of 16-9 1/4.
The Yotes had ten CCC Championship qualifying marks at the meet, which featured 39 schools and 560 athletes.
The C of I will compete next at the CCC Championships, May 13-15, in Troutdale, Ore.
