RAPID CITY, S.D.—Chopping one stroke off their opening round score, the Concordia women’s golf team fired a 31-over 319 on the second day of competition to move up one place to eighth in the team standings at the NAIA National Championships held at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
The third round of play will continue on Thursday while the event will conclude with 18 holes of action on Friday.
Oklahoma City (308-302—610) snared the overall team lead from British Columbia (301-311—612) with a 14-over 302 on Wednesday. Cal Baptist (313-312—625) also moved up one spot to No. 3 and was followed by Lubbock Christian (317-311—628) in fourth, Embry-Riddle (310-320—630) in fifth and South Carolina-Beaufort (318-317—635) in sixth.
With a 316 on Tuesday, Lindsey Wilson (322-316—638) jumped three spots to seventh, one stroke ahead of Concordia (320-319—639). Northwood (318-324—642), falling three spots after tying for sixth through the first round of action, trails the Cavaliers in ninth place.
With a strong first nine,
Sara Taylor (83-77—160) pulled into the individual lead for the Cavs with a 5-over 77 moving up 28 places to come in tied at 34th overall. Taylor kept pace with par through the first nine holes, making birdies on the first and eighth holes to cancel out a pair of bogies.
With two rounds to play,
Madeline Jarrett (80-81—161) and
Lindsay Aho (76-85—161) are tied for 40th place.
Kim Lindow (81-84—165) is tied for 57th while Holly Speer (89-77—166) jumped 34 spots to tie for 60th after tying for the team low with a 77 on Wednesday.
UBC’s Alyssa Human (73-76—149) and Lubbock Christian’s Anna Schapp (73-76—149) share the individual lead with 5-over 149s. One stroke back, Oklahoma City’s Laura Jones (76-74—150) and Cal Baptist’s Nathalie Silva (74-76—150) are tied for third.
