Cavs Continue Climb; Enter Final Day in Seventh Place

RAPID CITY, S.D.—Using its second straight 31-over 319 in the third round of action at the NAIA Women’s Golf Championships, Concordia moved up one spot to No. 7 in the team standings on Thursday.

With one round to go, Concordia (320-319-319—958) trails Lindsey Wilson (322-316-318—956) by two strokes for sixth place and Lubbock Christian (317-311-324—952) by six strokes for fifth place.

After falling from first to second on Wednesday, British Columbia (301-311-311—923) regained the overall lead by a single stroke over Oklahoma City (308-302-314—924). Cal Baptist (313-312-309—934) remained in third place while Embry Riddle (310-320-319—949) switched places with Lubbock Christian to take over fourth on the leaderboard.

After falling all the way to 40th after finishing the first day just outside the top 10, Lindsay Aho (76-85-75—236) stormed back to jump 20 spots and into a 5-way tie for 20th place with a 3-over 75, the best single-round score of the tournament for the Cavaliers, on Thursday.

Moving up three spaces, Sara Taylor (83-77-78—238) fired a 6-over 78 and ended the day along with four others with a 22-over 238 for the tournament.

The final three Cavaliers will enter the final day within two strokes of each other as Madeline Jarrett (80-81-86—247) resides in a tie for 55th with a 247, Holly Speer in a 5-way tie for 59th with a 248 and Kim Lindow in a 3-way tie for 64th with a 249.

The co-leaders at the midway point of the event did not fare well in the third day as UBC’s Alyssa Human (73-76-81—230) fell into a 4-way tie for third place and Lubbock Christian’s Anna Schopp (73-76-84—233) fell nine positions to 10th with a 12-over in round three.

Taking advantage, Cal Baptist’s Nathalie Silva (74-76-75—225) grabbed a 2-stroke lead over the field with her third straight solid round. OKC’s Laura Jones (76-74-77—227) remains in contention with an 11-over 227.
