Oregon Tech Stays Alive with 4-1 Win Over Simpson in NAIA West Tounament
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Oregon Tech’s Kyle Hansen drove in two runs with a two out single in the top of the fourth inning, which proved to be all the runs the Owls needed, taking today’s elimination game from Simpson University by a 4-1 final this morning at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Starter Matt Bellando pitched superb, quieting the Red Hawk bats while going the distance, to improve his overall record to 7-8. Bellando scattered six hits over nine innings of work, while allowing just one run and striking out five.
Colin Stock finished with two hits and a RBI for Tech, while Hansen, Trent Smith, Phil Sacks, Ryson Mauricio and Kory Locken each singled. Sacks accounted for the other Owl RBI.
The Owls will face the loser of game 4 between University of British Columbia and College of Idaho today at 3:30 p.m. The loser will be eliminated, while the winner will continue on in the double elimination tournament.
