SOU Announces Raider Rivals Award Winners
ASHLAND, ORE. -- The Southern Oregon athletic department today honored the Champion of Character oppenents that the Raiders faced during the 2009-10 school year. Each SOU program was asked to pick one individual from an NAIA opponent that best suited the NAIA’s Champions of Character creed, those winners are the Raider Rivals Award Winners.
The NAIA Champions of Character program has established five core values that go well beyond the playing field and these honorees fit each one of those values. The five values are integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
“We expect our programs to act and live the Champions of Character creed,” SOU Athletic Director Matt Sayre said. “With that, we wanted to make sure that we honored those opponents that do the same thing. They are the student-athletes that we would like to have on our team as a teammate. Not only does this group demonstrate great sportsmanship, but they also are great athletes.”
