KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University’s head volleyball coach, Jessie Dietrich, announced the signing of four student-athletes for the coming 2010 season. Three high school athletes and one college transfer comprise the group who will be playing for the Eagles.

Heather Shulke, a transfer and defensive specialist from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida, is originally from Longview, Wash., and graduated from Castle Rock High School in 2009. She was named All-League and League MVP her junior and senior years at Castle Rock (2007 and ’08) and was a three-year team captain (2006-08) for the Rockets. At Palm Beach University, Shulke was named defensive MVP for the 2009-10 season and earned Division II All-Independent College Athletic Association 2nd Team honors as well.

Sarah Stoker, is a 6-0 middle blocker from Olympia, Wash., and a graduate of Olympia High School where she was a 2-year varsity letter winner in volleyball for the Bears and earned four varsity letters in track. OHS finished the 2009 volleyball season on top of the Narrows League with a 10-0 record and 14-0 regular season mark. Sarah was named 2009 All-Narrows League 1st in volleyball in 2009.

Middle blocker, 5-11 Molly Boyle played her prep volleyball at Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Wash. An outstanding student, she was awarded the Washington State Honors Award in 2010. In 2009, she was named Co-Player of the year; All-League; First Team, All-Region; and second team All-State. Boyle earned All-League honors in 2008 along with being named the Most Inspirational award winner for her team. She was a Honorable Mention All-League team member in 2007.

Alexa Brown, a 5-5, defensive specialist, hails from Salem, Ore., and played her high school volleyball at Sprague High School. The Olympians were 6A Valley League Champions in both 2008 and 2009. She earned her teams Most Inspirational award twice in 2007 and 2009 and was named Best Defensive Player in 2008 and ’09. Brown earned First Team Central Valley All-Conference and second team All-Valley honors following the 2009 season. An honor roll student, she was also her team’s captain in 2009.

“I am very excited for our four incoming recruits,” commented Head Coach Jessie Dietrich. “They are not only very talented on the volleyball court, but also amazing women as well. All four of them will fit in great with the chemistry of our team. Alexa and Heather will bring depth to our back row which was a weakness for our team this past season. Molly and Sarah will bring more height and athleticism to our already steady front row. I am excited to see how each of these four girls will develop and make an impact during their career at Northwest.”
