SALEM, Ore. – Current assistant women's soccer coach Benny Flores has been promoted to Associate Head Coach for the 2010 season, as announced Wednesday by fifteenth-year head coach Marty Ziesemer.

"Benny is a very important member of the coaching staff and is very deserving of this promotion," said Ziesemer. "He has been a great help in areas of recruiting and coaching. He will enhance our team even further as we progress towards competing for a conference championship and national tournament berth."

Flores joined the women's soccer coaching staff prior to the 1997 season in Ziesemer's second season at the helm of then-Western Baptist. Five years later, Flores returned to the bench in 2003 and has remained a mainstay on the Warriors' bench since.

In his first three years back as an assistant coach on Ziesemer's staff, Flores helped guided the Warriors to back-to-back-to-back South Division championships that included two berths following the 2004 & 2005 seasons in the NAIA Region I Tournament against nationally-ranked Simon Fraser.

Prior to moving to the bench as a coach, Flores played three seasons from 1990-92 for then-Western Baptist's men's program. During his time on the field, Flores scored 39 goals, handed out 18 assists, and accumulated 96 career points. On the all-time lists, Flores ranks fourth in points, fourth in goals, and is tied for 8th in assists.

During his tenure as assistant coach for the Warriors, Flores has helped guide the team to an overall win-loss record of 80-73-12.

Corban, who is coming off its second straight conference tournament semifinal appearance, will be opening its 2010 season on Wednesday, August 25th, against NCAA Division II member Western Oregon beginning at 1:00 p.m. at home.
