PORTLAND, Ore. – All-Americans Alma Garcilazo of Eastern Oregon and Eric Burck of Concordia have been named the 2010 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Year, according to a vote of the conference head coaches.

Garcilazo, a sophomore from Umatilla, Ore., was a two-time All-American in the 800 meters this past season, finishing fourth at both the NAIA indoor and outdoor national championships.

Late last month, Garcilazo clocked a school-record time of 2:11.00 at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind., breaking the mark she set earlier in the season.

She earned automatic qualification to the NAIA outdoor meet in three individual events (400, 800, 1,500) and as part of the 4x400 relay. At the NAIA indoor meet, she qualified in both the 600 and 800 meters and participated on EOU’s 4x400 relay team which registered an eighth-place finish.

Garcilazo was the CCC champion in the 800 meters and runner-up in the 400. She also ran a leg on EOU’s 4x400 relay team, which placed second at the conference meet.

Burck, a senior from Ephrata, Wash., is coming off a season which saw him win the NAIA indoor 5,000 meter title, finish second in the NAIA outdoor 10,000 meters, and place fifth in the NAIA outdoor 5,000 meters.

Burck was named the CCC Track Athlete of the Meet in mid-May after winning the 5,000 meters and placing second in the 1,500 meters at the conference championships.
