PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific Athletics is pleased to announce that Bryan Grove will be the new head coach of the Knight Cross Country program.

His background is filled with a variety of coaching experience and mentoring of athletes, including several years at the high school level. Grove most recently coached cross country and track as an assistant at North Salem High School (2005-07) with previous stops at Potlatch High School (Idaho), Snohomish High School (Wash.), Sprague High School, and Lake Stevens High School (Wash.).

Since 2007, Grove has been on the campus staff with The Navigators ministry in Eugene, Ore., working with students at the University of Oregon. He also was an academic tutor in 2009 for athletes in various Oregon sports programs, helping students succeed in their coursework.

Grove was a member of the cross country team during the 1998 and 1999 seasons at the University of Idaho, where he later graduated with a degree in Geography in 2001.

“We are very pleased to have Bryan on board for the 2010 season,” says WP athletic director Ryan Kaiser. “I am impressed with his background as a Division I athlete and his years of high school coaching experience. In addition, his passion for mentoring athletes and building relationships makes him a perfect fit for the mission of Warner Pacific College. He will be working closely with head track coach Dave Lee to get up to speed with our athletes and preparing for preseason training.”

“I am very excited for this opportunity,” says Grove. “I enjoy working with college athletes, and want to provide the best possible experience for our runners at Warner Pacific. I can’t wait to get started with the training, and helping the team compete at a high level this season.”

The Knights open their season September 4th at the Corban Short Course Invitational in Salem, Ore.
