4 CCC Programs Ranked in NAIA Top 25 Polls
PORTLAND, Ore. – Four Cascade Collegiate Conference programs – two in volleyball and two in women’s soccer – are ranked among the Top 25 teams in their respective sports, according to preseason polls released by the NAIA.
In addition, two CCC men’s soccer programs are in the “others receiving votes” category.
Concordia, which has advanced to the NAIA semifinals the past two years, checked in at the No. 3 position in the women's soccer poll, two spots higher than its final ranking of No. 5 in 2009. The Cavaliers, who went 21-3 last season, are aiming for their 10th consecutive CCC championship. College of Idaho, which shared the CCC regular season crown with the Cavaliers in 2009, are ranked 21st. The Yotes went 14-3 last season.
In volleyball, Southern Oregon and College of Idaho lead the way for the CCC; the Raiders are ranked 13th, the same position they finished in last year’s final national poll, while the Yotes checked in at No. 16. Only one point separated the two programs in last week’s CCC preseason coaches’ poll.
In men’s soccer, Concordia (27 points) and Warner Pacific (3 points) each received votes in the national poll but did not crack the Top 25. Concordia is looking to unseat defending CCC regular season and tournament champion Warner Pacific in 2010.
The NAIA's preseason cross country Top 25 polls will be released the week of Aug. 23.
