Eagles Drop Match to Carroll

LEWISTON, Idaho - The Northwest University Eagles were swept, 3-0 (25-22, 25-6, 25-18) by Carroll College (Mont.) in their final match of the Lewis-Clark State Tournament today in Lewiston, Idaho. NU was playing shorthanded having lost their two setters to injuries on Friday.

NU was without the services of setters Lauryn Ernster and Elle Ottow who suffered injuries on Friday and did not play in the match today.

Lauren Holtz led the Eagles (1-2) with 5 kills, 8 assists and 6 digs. Heather Shulke finished with 18 digs and Anu Akamine  had 9 assists for Northwest U.

Haylee Otteson had a match high 11 kills for Carroll (7--0) while her teammate, Sammy Priddy, added 10 kills and 10 digs. Catlin Tocci led Carroll with 17 assists.

"We had to have our two outsides set today who have never set before," stated Coach Dietrich. "It was interesting."

The Eagles will remain on the road as they begin Cascade Conference play on Sept. 3 at The Evergreen State College in Olympia and then travel to Portland for the Lewis & Clark College Tournament on Sept. 4 and 5 for four matches. NU will then travel to Salem, Ore., to play conference opponents Corban University and Northwest Christian on Sept. 10 and 11 before they return to the friendly confines of the NU Pavilion on Sept. 17.
