SALEM, Ore. – Freshman Bailey Wold (Spokane, Wash.) had the best performance of her young career with a team-high tying 15 kills, but it was not enough as Corban's women's volleyball team fell in a heart-wrenching five-set match against the visiting Eagles of Northwest Friday night inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Corban got off to a rocky start against visiting Northwest, trailing 7-2 after Kacie Simpson’s kill for the visiting Eagles. The Warriors would surge back into the game, 13-12, thanks to a Molly Boyle’s service error before tying the score at 21-all off sophomore Karisa Calderon’s (Murrieta, Calif.) kill. After dropping the initial point of the match, Northwest never trailed and closed out the first set (25-20) with five straight points.

In set #2, Corban responded and took an early 5-2 lead behind junior Tiffany Land’s (Independence, Ore.) kill. Both teams traded points for the duration of the set until Corban opened a 24-21 lead coming on Wold’s kill on an assist by junior Megan Dees (Tehachapi, Calif.). Wold slammed the door shut on the Eagles (25-22) after the Warriors gave up a point with her ninth kill of the match.

Another sloppy start from the Warriors gave Northwest a quick advantage in set #3. The Eagles built a 17-12 lead before freshman Allison Pargeter (Anchorage, Alaska) served an ace, moving the Warriors back into contention. Just when a comeback seemed likely, an 8-3 run from Northwest ended the set (25-15), culminating in Lauren Ernster’s kill and a Corban attack error.

With their backs against the wall, Corban flew out of the gate in set #4 taking a 5-0 lead off Dee’s service ace. Northwest roared back, tieing the contest at 8-8 on Sarah Stoker’s kill.
