Oregon Tech Rally Falls Short, EOU Wins in Five

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech volleyball team battled back from a 2-1 deficit to send the match to a final set, but it was the Mountaineers that would eventually come away with a Cascade Conference victory following a 20-25, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12 win tonight at Danny Miles Court. 

Tech’s Megan Christensen came away with a match-high 18 kills, followed by outside hitter Kristen Walters with 14. Mikayla Morgan and Mindy Rencher combined for 15 kills in the loss, with Morgan adding 14 kills, a solo block and five block assists. Setter Sarah Svedin played a nice all-around match totaling 41 assists, five kills and two aces while assisting on four blocks. Hannah Brewster tallied a team-high 22 digs, with Bridget Harrison adding 15 and Kayleigh Whelchel 10 for the Owls.

Kaitlyn Duncan paced the Mountaineer defense with a match-high 44 digs. Jessica Lee filled the stat sheet with a team-high 17 kills to go with 26 assists and 11 digs. Irene Walters followed with 14 kills with Katie Keeney adding 10. Walters also came away with 16 digs for EOU in the win. Setter Emily Sampson finished with 24 assists and five digs.

Oregon Tech prepares for a three-match road trip with a non-conference match in Redding, Calif. on Tuesday before resuming CCC play when Tech travels to Washington to take on Evergreen State College on Friday and Northwest University in Kirkland on Saturday.
