FINAL RESULTS

PRINEVILLE, Ore.—After carding a 1-over in the opening round for his worst round of the tournament, freshman Jesse Heinly (73-70-69—212) led Concordia to a runner-up result at the Cavalier Classic held at Meadow Lakes Golf Course on Tuesday.
 
Concordia (296-280-285—861) trailed Victoria (273-284-290—847) by 23 strokes after the first round but managed to cut the deficit in the final two go-arounds by firing a 8-under 280 in the second tour to UVIK’s 284 and a 3-under 285 in the finale while the Vikings settled for a 290.
 
With a 14-stroke gap between Victoria and the host Cavaliers, Simpson (298-294-293—885) pulled away from the rest of the field for third place, ending the event with an eight-stroke lead over fourth-place Northwest Christian (304-295-294—893). The Beacons slipped by Simon Fraser (297-296-303—896) for fourth place while Corban (307-303-300—910) defeated College of Idaho (298-314-304—916) by six strokes for sixth place. Warner Pacific (302-301-319—922) rounded out the Cascade Collegiate Conference field in eighth place.
 
Behind a near course record of 9-under 63 in the opener, UVIK’s Samuel Holland (63-73-72—208) sailed to the individual win. With three straight 2-under 70s, UVIK teammate Jarred Callbeck (70-70-70—210) closed over the final 36 holes to end two strokes behind the medalist.
 
Heinly shared the day’s lowest round with fellow Cavalier Jed Dalton (76-72-69—217) and Corban’s Joey Duwe (74-72-69—215) to finish in third place and lead all CCC representatives.  Northwest Christians Brent McKee (70-73-71—214) led the Beacons by edging Duwe by a single stroke. Dalton entered the clubhouse tied for eighth while NCU’s Tyler Falk (75-71-72—218) cracked the top to by sharing tenth place with Warner Pacific’s Andrew Johnson (72-73-73—218) and CU’s Jared Moe (71-71-76—218).
 
College of Idaho was led by Mark Baer (74-75-77—26) with a 21st-place result, one stroke ahead of another Coyote in Austen Giesie (75-80-71—226).
 
The Warriors will host the second CCC tournament of the fall with the Corban Invitational held at Creekside Country Club on October 10-11 in Salem, Oregon.
